Project: Wieting Theatre

The Wieting Theatre was originally built in 1912 as a gift to the Toledo community. With funds donated by Ella Wieting, the building was opened as an opera house. Over the decades the building fell into a state of disrepair. Only recently, the opera house came back to life as a movie theatre.

Shiffler Associates was hired to restore the building to it’s original appearance while converting it to a functional movie theatre with state of the art infrastructure. The transformation included reducing the seating, adding air conditioning, all new electric, adding ADA compliant restrooms and modifying the entry system to provide light control to protect the movie experience

Our office conducted a detailed investigation of original paint colors and construction details. All new amenities were carefully detailed to be compatible with the original architecture.
